Kiwi Design Legacy
Warwick Yacht Design Ltd was founded in New Zealand in 1980 by Alan Warwick, who received his architectural education in Auckland. After building his first Townson boat in 1962 and designing the Davidson 31 with Laurie Davidson, Warwick's Cardinal line of yachts built in Taiwan established his reputation, leading to the studio's founding . Over the years, Warwick and his team have designed over 500 boats, making him one of the most prolific and successful yacht designers in New Zealand .
Award-Winning Portfolio
The studio's landmark projects include motor and sailing yachts Two and Quintessential, both recipients of the International Superyacht Design Award. Other notable yachts include Aliyoni, Patea, Aiyana, and Zweisamkeit. The firm collaborates with premier shipyards including Pendennis, Alloy Yachts, Yachting Developments, Alia Yachts, and Sovereign NZ .
Philosophy and Continuity
Warwick Yacht Design operates on trust—exemplified by designing a yacht for a paralyzed client by drawing full-scale dimensions on his floor to ensure wheelchair maneuverability. From 2009-2010, Alan's son Bruce assumed leadership, continuing the studio's work in motor and sailing yachts up to 200 feet, catamarans, workboats, patrol boats, and ferries . Alan Warwick passed away in September 2018, but his firm continues .
