Radical Vision for a New Generation
Vripack, the renowned Dutch design studio, has built a reputation for bold, innovative thinking in yacht design. At the 2025 Dubai International Boat Show, they unveiled perhaps their most ambitious concept yet: Lily, a 101m superyacht developed for Oceanco's Beyond Custom series in collaboration with Lateral Naval Architects. Designed explicitly for younger, multi-directional clients, Lily challenges every convention of traditional yacht layout and aesthetics.
Water Lily Inspiration
The concept draws direct inspiration from the form and movement of the water lily. Bart M. Bouwhuis, Vripack's co-creative director, explains: 'The lily opens and closes, and everything that opens, it reveals' . This principle manifests in Lily's asymmetrical, split-level design, where walls and floors are intentionally disconnected, creating soaring ceiling heights up to 6m. Hallways meander organically rather than following straight lines, inviting discovery at every turn. Even boarding is reimagined—guests arrive on a completely open, seamless deck rather than climbing stairs.
Owner's Penthouse and Virtual Bridge
Lily's most impressive feature is the owner's deck: a sprawling 450m² space occupying the entire top tier, described by Bouwhuis as 'like a penthouse' with expansive glass façades. The yacht also incorporates a fully certified virtual bridge—a digital navigation system housed within the yacht's body, freeing prime real estate for living spaces. While currently a concept, Lily represents Vripack's determination to approach design differently and inspire clients to create extraordinary yachts that reflect how next-generation owners actually live and work.
