Vitruvius Yacht Design
Vitruvius Yacht Design is the Viareggio-based motor yacht studio within the Philippe Briand Group, specializing in sophisticated designs including the 50m ALY50 (ALIA Yachts), a 52m Tankoa (2026 delivery), and collaborations with Oceanco and Turquoise on 80m+ projects.
The Motor Yacht Arm of the Briand Group
Vitruvius Yacht Design represents the dedicated motor yacht studio within the broader Philippe Briand Group, based in the heart of Italian yacht design: Viareggio. Led by Michele Baccetti, Vitruvius focuses on sophisticated motor yachts while its sister studios—Philippe Briand in London and Briand Yacht Design in La Rochelle—handle sailing yachts, hydrodynamics, and naval architecture. This structure allows Vitruvius to draw upon over 40 years of Briand Group experience while maintaining a distinct Italian identity.
Recent Launches and Under-Construction Projects
Vitruvius's portfolio is expanding rapidly. The 50m ALY50, built by ALIA Yachts in Turkey and launched in late 2025, showcases the studio's collaboration with Mulder Design (fast vessels) and Liaigre (interiors), under project management of Giuseppe Sole. Currently under construction is a 52m Tankoa Vitruvius, scheduled for delivery in January 2026. In advanced design phases are a 79.5m Vitruvius in partnership with Oceanco (utilizing the Dutch yard's new platform) and an 80m Vitruvius for Turquoise Yachts.
Sailing Cruise Ship Innovation
Perhaps most ambitiously, Vitruvius is developing an unprecedented 100m Vitruvius Sailing Cruise Ship, converging superyacht luxury with cruise ship capacity. Philippe Briand's holistic vision positions Vitruvius at the forefront of 'design in movement,' creating vessels that offer true autonomy and connection to the water. The studio's work demonstrates that motor yachts can achieve the same elegance and technical refinement as Briand's sailing heritage.
