Vincenzo Ruggiero
Vincenzo Ruggiero, a former Italian Navy officer, founded Studio Ruggiero in Genoa in 1974. The studio has worked with every major Italian shipyard and is celebrated for naval architecture including the innovative 72m Tankoa Solo.
From Italian Navy to Yacht Design
Vincenzo Ruggiero brings a unique background to yacht design: that of a former officer in the Italian Navy. Upon retiring from military service, he chose not to rest but to apply his technical expertise and naval architecture training to the civilian sector. In 1974, he founded Studio Ruggiero in Genoa, Italy's historic maritime capital. His experience as a naval officer provided a rigorous foundation in ship theory, stability analysis, and construction standards that would prove invaluable in the superyacht industry.
Collaboration with Italian Shipbuilding
Studio Ruggiero has worked with virtually every significant Italian shipyard, including Mondomarine, Benetti, Tankoa Yachts, Bugari Yacht, Baglietto, Codecasa, Azimut, and Perini Navi (formerly Picchiotti). The studio offers a complete cycle of design services—naval architecture, exterior design, interior design, and full project management, including shipyard selection and construction oversight. The firm's technical authority is such that it has frequently been appointed as an independent expert to resolve disputes between builders and owners.
Signature Projects
Among Studio Ruggiero's most celebrated projects is the 72m Tankoa superyacht Solo, launched in 2018. Described as one of the most unusual and energy-efficient charter superyachts afloat, Solo showcases Ruggiero's naval architecture expertise. The studio also fully developed the 42.7m Kimberly II. Today, Vincenzo is joined in leadership by his children Valerio and Elisabetta, continuing a family legacy of technical excellence and the guarantee that 'Developed by Studio Ruggiero in Genoa' represents recognized quality throughout the yachting world.
