Remi Tessier
Remi Tessier is a Paris-based yacht interior designer, trained as a cabinet maker at Les Compagnons de Devoir, whose meticulous material sensibility has earned him projects including a 99.9m Feadship, a 32.5m Vitters sloop, and multiple vessels documented in De Klerk's project records.
From Cabinet Maker to Yacht Interior Maestro
Remi Tessier's unique path to yacht design began with seven years of training as a cabinet maker at Les Compagnons de Devoir, France's prestigious craftsmen guild. This foundation instilled an 'infatuation with materials' and the technical mastery to challenge conventional design. Self-taught in interior architecture, Tessier now leads a Paris studio of 15, applying his philosophy that 'both luxury and refinement should be sensed rather than ostentatiously forced'.
Current and Historical Projects
Tessier's reputation has earned him some of the industry's most coveted commissions. He is currently completing the interior of a 32.5m high-performance sloop (project 3075) designed by Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design and built at Vitters, with a carbon hull demanding ultra-lightweight interior solutions. Simultaneously, he is working on a 99.9m Feadship—one of the Dutch yard's most significant projects. De Klerk's project database confirms Tessier's established portfolio: 95m Bliss (2021), 100m Moonrise (2020), 81m Air (2011), 55m Kahalani (2010), and the 81m Air.
Material Philosophy
Tessier maintains no house style, insisting each client's personality informs the design while his touch remains implicit 'in the details of a grand atrium, the precision of an elegant curvature, or the sophisticated accuracy of a mechanism'. His personal design heroes—Maison Bonnet bespoke eyewear, Damien Hirst's butterfly cabinets, Goyard luggage, Hans Wegner chairs, and Dyson vacuum cleaners—reveal his appreciation for perfection achieved through material mastery and engineering excellence.
