Maritime Design Debut
Patricia Urquiola, the internationally celebrated Spanish architect and designer, has created her signature interior vision for the Owner's Residence aboard EXPLORA III, the newest vessel from Explora Journeys set to debut in summer 2026. This marks a significant foray into maritime design for Urquiola, who brings her characteristic sensitivity to texture, proportion, and light to the seagoing environment.
The Owner's Residence
Urquiola's design reinterprets the concept of the Owner's Residence as the ultimate expression of modern luxury at sea. Every surface and detail reveals her distinctive approach, subtly expressing beauty through texture, proportion, and illumination. The expansive wraparound aft terrace invites guests to enjoy sweeping sea views from a private infinity-edge jacuzzi, alfresco dining table, and elegant loungers.
Interior spaces are shaped with sculptural perfection: oak parquet flooring, refined marble details, and continuous curved boiserie create fluid movement throughout. Furnishings from Cassina, Kettal, and Moroso complement the architectural envelope. The circular dining table seating eight integrates naturally with the spacious living area and bar conceived for entertaining.
Material and Spatial Sensibility
The private bedroom offers panoramic sea views as a tranquil, intimate space. The travertine bathroom features bathtub, separate shower, private steam room, and generous dressing area. Urquiola's design demonstrates how architectural coherence and textural richness can create a genuine sense of home at sea, with every element selected to enhance the experience of ocean travel.
