Piero Lissoni
Piero Lissoni is a Milanese architect and designer, graduate of Politecnico di Milano, whose minimalist philosophy extends to yacht design through collaboration with Sanlorenzo, creating vessels characterized by simple lines and material contrast.
Milanese Master of Minimalism
Piero Lissoni, born in Milan in 1956, represents the continuation of Italy's great design tradition, following in the footsteps of Marco Zanuso, Ettore Sottsass, and Achille Castiglioni. A graduate of Politecnico di Milano in architecture, Lissoni co-founded Lissoni Associati in 1986 with Nicoletta Canesi, building a multidisciplinary practice spanning architecture, interior design, furniture, and increasingly, yacht design. His work is characterized by提炼事物本质—distilling objects to their essential qualities through simple lines and deliberate material contrast.
Ventures into Yacht Design
Lissoni's entry into yacht design came through collaboration with Luca Brenta Yacht Design and colleague Kitty Hawks, applying his residential sensibility to the marine environment. His partnership with Sanlorenzo has produced yachts that reflect his design philosophy, with works included in Milan Design Week 2025 exhibitions. For Lissoni, yacht design represents the ultimate integration of his architectural principles—creating floating sanctuaries that combine all the luxury of urban living with the freedom of the sea.
Global Recognition
Beyond yachting, Lissoni's portfolio includes the Venice Monaco & Grand Canal Hotel renovation, Tokyo's Cassina IXC showroom, Shanghai's Spazio Italia, and the Beijing Shougang Power Plant transformation into Shangri-La Hotel (2019). His achievements include the German Red Dot Design Award and Italy's prestigious Compasso d'Oro. 'These projects are a pleasure for me,' Lissoni reflects. 'The real challenge is communicating that passion to others'.
