Fulvio De Simoni
Fulvio De Simoni is an Italian yacht designer and architect, founder of his own studio, best known as the designer of Rossinavi's NOLIMITS series of semi-custom crossover yachts. Following successful collaborations on five custom vessels including Aurora, De Simoni developed the NOLIMITS range to combine long, silent navigation with owner personalization.
Rossinavi Collaboration and NOLIMITS
Fulvio De Simoni, architect and founder of his own studio, has established a significant partnership with Viareggio-based shipyard Rossinavi. After designing the vessel Aurora, De Simoni and Rossinavi discovered strong style synergy, leading to five custom vessels between 45 and 62 metres currently under construction . This collaboration culminated in the creation of the NOLIMITS series, a semi-custom crossover fleet designed to recuperate design time while allowing owners extensive personalization of decor, equipment, and fittings . The first NL45 was sold shortly after the fleet's presentation in 2024 .
Design Philosophy and Market Trends
De Simoni emphasizes that NOLIMITS focuses on long, silent navigation, building solid foundations to work with owners on all their requirements . He observes that increased demand for explorer models stems not merely from exploration desire but from a contemporary wish to leave society behind, take a step back, and consider new ways of living away from crowds . One client plans to travel worldwide for a year with children; others who cannot yet make such voyages choose explorers to position themselves for future possibilities .
Pioneering Electric Propulsion
Beyond conventional design, De Simoni has already designed two electric vessels and collaborates with Rossinavi on another electric yacht scheduled for launch before summer 2024 . He notes that while the field advances rapidly, significant challenges remain with batteries and the recycling and sustainability of their components. The interesting aspect of current projects is taking steps toward electric autonomy using renewable energy, pushing boundaries of what's possible in sustainable yachting .
