Art-Line superyacht interiors

Art-Line, founded by Dutch art academy graduates Marilyn de Vaal and Frank Pieterse, is an award-winning superyacht interior design studio celebrated for record-breaking Heesen yachts Octopussy and Moonraker, Lürssen's Vive La Vie, and multiple World Superyacht and ShowBoats Design Awards.

From Art Academy to Yacht Design

Art-Line began its journey into superyacht design almost by accident. Founders Marilyn de Vaal and Frank Pieterse graduated from the Art Academy of Utrecht in the Netherlands intending to focus on architectural design. After styling their first motor yacht, they were approached to design the seminal, record-breaking Heesen superyachts Octopussy (1988) and Moonraker (1992), projects that launched Art-Line's reputation for interiors within complex technical structures.

Philosophy and Awards

De Vaal and Pieterse's background in contemporary art, architecture, and design shapes their philosophy of creating 'the ideal balance between function and emotion'. This approach has earned numerous accolades: World Superyacht Awards for Lürssen's 59.4m Vive La Vie and Danish Yachts' Shooting Star, plus ShowBoats Design Awards for Derecktor's Dillinger, Heesen's Moonraker, and the Turkish-built Cizgi Yacht award-winner E&E .

Collaborations and Specialisation

Art-Line has established long-standing collaborations, particularly with Dutch yards including Heesen, Moonen, Feadship, and HJB, while also undertaking hotel and hospitality vessel projects. Notable among their portfolio is serial owner John Staluppi's Octopussy, built on a bet between Staluppi and Heesen founder Frans Heesen, which set speed records and cemented Art-Line's place in yachting history.
