Sydac
Sydac Yacht Design, founded in Genoa in 1995 by Falletta Calogero, is a comprehensive Italian design studio specializing in naval architecture, exteriors, and interiors. Known for the Wider 165 hull and naval architecture for explorer Tribu and high-performance Princess Iolanthe and Sierra Romeo.
Genoa-Based Design Excellence
Sydac Yacht Design was founded in Genoa, Italy, in 1995 by Falletta Calogero. Through a comprehensive approach, high-quality services, and a strong team, the studio quickly gained popularity in the marine sector, particularly among enthusiasts of large vessels. The team includes exterior designer Simone Dapino and interior specialist Sergio Bonvini, who assist Calogero in studio leadership.
Philosophy and Specialization
The studio views its primary task as finding compromise among clients' often conflicting wishes regarding yacht characteristics: speed, seakeeping, maneuverability, safety, and comfort. Sydac creates exteriors and interiors while placing special emphasis on naval architecture and design. Their arsenal includes both classical modeling and basin testing alongside modern computer methods for calculating performance parameters.
Shipyard Collaborations and Projects
Sydac primarily works with Italian shipbuilders, designing semi-custom superyachts for Mondomarine, Wider, Admiral, and Cerri Cantieri Navali. The studio developed the hull for the motor superyacht Wider 165, distinguished by its performance and 5,400 nautical mile range. Sydac also provided naval architecture for explorer Tribu and faster yachts Princess Iolanthe and Sierra Romeo. Earlier work includes naval architecture for the 40m Mondomarine motor yacht Serafima (2005), collaborating with Cor D. Rover Design on exterior.
