Nauta Design
Nauta Design, the Milan-based design studio, unveiled Project Velor in 2025, a 75-metre superyacht concept with diesel-electric propulsion and revolutionary engine placement below the lower deck, enabling an open 'water patio' beach club with unobstructed sea views.
Milanese Innovation
Nauta Design, the Milan-based design studio, unveiled Project Velor in 2025, a 75.12 metre superyacht concept developed with Francesco Rogantin from Studio Names. The 1,700 GT vessel features a diesel-electric propulsion system with four generators (two 1,000 kW and two 500 kW) and a 13-metre beam.
Revolutionary Technical Solution
Project Velor's most radical innovation is placing the single-storey engine room below the lower deck—a solution Nauta developed over eight years. This creates completely new layout possibilities, accommodating five-deck comfort within just four floors. The design establishes vertical and horizontal flow throughout the yacht, with distinct zones for socializing, wellness, and rest.
The 'Water Patio' Concept
The open-air beach club, or 'water patio,' on the aft lower deck represents a radical departure from conventional enclosed lounges. A large pool flows seamlessly into an airy lounge, creating a multifunctional space suitable for yoga, wellness, meetings, or retreats—all with unobstructed sea views. Martino Majno, Nauta Design Director, explains: 'This outdoor area is only possible by placing the single-storey engine room below the lower deck'.
The exterior features elegant, flowing curves contrasting with sharp beveled edges, while aft terraces appear to dissolve at their ends. Lamella-like 'brise-soleil' overhangs create changing light and depth throughout.
