Always Connected: IT/AV Integration on the explorer yacht Nasiba
Videoworks has designed a fully integrated IT and AV system for the 146-foot Flexplorer yacht Nasiba by Cantiere delle Marche. The system ensures global connectivity with redundant Starlink and OneWeb terminals, 5G, and enterprise-grade networking for a tech-savvy owner.
Videoworks Delivers Advanced IT/AV Integration on Explorer Yacht Nasiba
Videoworks has completed a comprehensive IT and audiovisual integration aboard the 146-foot Flexplorer yacht Nasiba, built by Cantiere delle Marche with interior design by Winch Design. The project was tailored for a young, tech-savvy owner requiring 24/7 connectivity for work and family life, even in remote locations.
Global Connectivity Redefined
To ensure uninterrupted coverage, Nasiba is equipped with dual Starlink terminals (port and starboard) and two professional OneWeb LEO antennas, creating a fully redundant network. This setup guarantees connectivity even if one antenna is obstructed. For coastal operations, 5G and 4G LTE provide seamless coverage up to 20 nautical miles from shore. All connections are aggregated via a Peplink Balance router with SpeedFusion technology, dynamically optimising bandwidth across Starlink, OneWeb and 5G without user intervention.
Enterprise-Grade Network Infrastructure
The internal network relies on enterprise hardware with redundant switches, swappable modules and failover paths for maximum uptime. In a novel request for EMF-conscious operation, the owner can disable all Wi-Fi signals in cabins at night. Videoworks hardwired every possible device—Ethernet, analog audio, infrared-controlled TVs—so guests and crew can use wired LAN ports or analog connections while Wi-Fi is off.
Flexible Outdoor Entertainment
The explorer-style aft deck doubles as a flexible entertainment area. Five high-power active speakers with subwoofers, a 98-inch motorised rear-projection screen, and a portable projector create an outdoor cinema experience. Audio and video signals connect via analog RCA and balanced outputs for compatibility with high-power systems.
CCTV and Situational Awareness
Seven PTZ cameras monitor the yacht's exterior, with feeds visible on all cabin TVs. This provides crew with situational awareness and remote monitoring, while offering guests real-time video entertainment.
A Model for Future Technology-Driven Yachts
Mario Minardi, Operations Manager at Videoworks Americas, stated: "The system combines redundancy, ease of use and flexibility, all while respecting the owner's preferences for EMF safety and full control. It's a model for the next generation of long-range, technology-driven yachts."
