CRN M/Y 145 Project Thunderball Reaches Key Construction Milestone

Ancona, June 10, 2025 – CRN announces a significant milestone in the construction of M/Y 145 Project Thunderball, a fully bespoke 70-metre steel and aluminium superyacht scheduled for launch and delivery in 2026. With the hull and superstructure carpentry now complete, the project is advancing rapidly into the final outfitting stages.

Bespoke Collaboration

This one-of-a-kind vessel combines CRN’s naval engineering and Italian craftsmanship with the design expertise of Vripack Yacht Design (exterior, preliminary naval architecture, GA) and Nauta Design (interiors and outdoor social spaces). CRN has overseen the engineering, final naval architecture, and overall project management. Owner’s representative Y.CO is providing technical oversight and coordination throughout construction.

Design Philosophy

With her elongated bow, sleek sailboat-inspired lines, and gently curved bilges, Project Thunderball blends elegance with efficiency. The interiors by Nauta Design reinterpret maritime heritage with a contemporary lifestyle aesthetic, merging timeless details, refined finishes, and bespoke craftsmanship.

Construction Progress

  • Exterior: Fairing to be completed by summer 2025, with full hull painting scheduled for September. Decorative metalwork is nearly finished, while wooden exterior fixtures are under fabrication.

  • Interiors: Compartmentation is complete; lower deck furniture installation is underway. First finished cabins will be installed this summer, while insulation of main deck areas is progressing. Installation of bespoke furniture pieces will mark the next major milestone.

Innovation & Sustainability

Aligned with CRN’s commitment to responsible yachting, Project Thunderball integrates advanced energy recovery systems and a peak shaving solution to optimize onboard power management, reduce fuel consumption, and enable silent mode operation at anchor.

Specifications

  • Length: 70 m | Beam: 11 m | Tonnage: 1,100 GT

  • Accommodation: 12 guests (owner’s suite + 5 VIP cabins) | 15 crew in 9 cabins

  • Performance: MAN V12 engines, top speed 16 knots, cruising 12 knots

  • Decks: 5, designed for expansive living and entertaining

A Culture of Bespoke

CRN M/Y 145 Project Thunderball embodies the brand’s dedication to tailor-made design, meticulous processes, and owner-centric collaboration. With construction on schedule, this yacht is set to become a new benchmark in luxury yachting when she joins the water in 2026.
