Van der Valk Launches 35m LALABE Ahead of Cannes Debut

Waalwijk, The Netherlands – On Saturday, 24 May, Van der Valk proudly launched its latest custom superyacht, LALABE, at its shipyard in the south of the Netherlands. The 35-metre tri-deck yacht—formerly known as Project Samba—now begins her final fit-out and sea trials before delivery this summer.
Inspired Design and Proven Performance
LALABE is based on the award-winning 34-metre Lady Lene, featuring a reengineered fast displacement hull capable of speeds up to 17 knots, powered by twin MAN engines. The all-aluminium build reflects Van der Valk’s signature Dutch craftsmanship and engineering excellence.
The exterior and interior were custom-designed by Guido de Groot in close collaboration with the yacht’s experienced owners. Every element was purpose-built to provide a luxurious, family-focused yachting experience that flows with the rhythms of sea life.
Living in Harmony with the Sea
LALABE has been designed as a floating sanctuary for a multi-generational family. A standout feature is the expansive aft cockpit and beach terrace, offering:
- Alfresco dining area
- Relaxed lounge seating
- Sauna and steam room
- Beach chill-out zone
- Transformer platform for easy sea access
Inside, the galley features a cooking island and spacious prep areas tailored for the owner’s active use. The main deck houses a luxurious master suite with:
- Office area
- Walk-in his-and-hers wardrobes
- Large ensuite bathroom
The lower deck includes:
- Two VIP suites
- Two twin guest cabins
- Three crew cabins
The captain’s cabin is conveniently located just behind the bridge. A sculptural central staircase unites all decks and serves as a stunning interior focal point.
Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Experience
One of LALABE’s defining design philosophies is the merging of interior and exterior spaces. This is particularly evident on the bridge deck, where sliding doors on three sides transform the upper saloon into a hybrid indoor-outdoor lounge.
The exterior aesthetic delivers a modern interpretation of classic explorer lines. Dark accents and offset surfaces visually streamline the tri-deck profile while maintaining safety—thanks to one-metre-high bulwarks ideal for families with children.
Voices Behind the Yacht
Guido de Groot, Designer: “It is a pleasure to work with clients so invested in their yacht on a personal level. LALABE is a testament to what a bespoke building process can achieve.”
Yoeri Bijker, Commercial Director, Van der Valk: “LALABE embodies everything we stand for: superb engineering, Dutch quality, and total customisation. We’re thrilled to see her launched and soon delivered to a family who will truly cherish her.”
Public Debut in Cannes
LALABE will make her international debut at the 2025 Cannes Yachting Festival this September. Visitors will have the opportunity to tour the yacht and meet the Van der Valk team to discuss future bespoke yacht projects.
