Aalsmeer, May 17, 2025 – Feadship has unveiled Project 715, now named Valor, an 80-metre ice-class explorer yacht purpose-built for high-latitude exploration and eco-conscious cruising. Emerging from the yard in Aalsmeer, this formidable vessel is a technological and design tour-de-force, combining cutting-edge green propulsion with luxurious comfort.

Built for Exploration

Constructed for a repeat Feadship owner, Valor’s robust steel hull features a two-metre ice belt and is Bureau Veritas Young Ice 2 certified. She is engineered to navigate extreme environments like the Northwest Passage while maintaining unmatched comfort and style.

Revolutionary Propulsion

Valor is powered by a hybrid diesel-electric, solar, and battery-powered system developed under the Feadship Advanced Electrical Drive (FAED) program. Four ultra-efficient, variable-speed generators feed a DC grid and a massive 5.34 MWh Norwegian lithium-ion battery bank — over five times more capacity than Feadship’s 83.5m Savannah.

  • Battery-only operation: Up to 48 hours
  • Fuel: HVO BioFuel or low-sulfur marine diesel
  • Propulsion: Twin Schottel EcoPeller azimuthing thrusters
  • Bow thruster: Schottel Rim-Drive

Solar panels atop the mast add additional renewable power. Combined with advanced stabilization from Quantum Marine (XT Fins and MAGlift), Valor sets new benchmarks in silent, zero-emission cruising and comfort.

Bold Exterior & Bespoke Interior

The exterior, designed by Chris Bottom at Studio De Voogt, draws inspiration from naval vessels — a dreadnaught bow and sleek, modern lines mixed with luxury yacht elements. The owner challenged the design team to create something "recognisable from outer space" — avoiding typical “wedding cake” profiles.

Interior styling by Bannenberg & Rowell blends raw, natural materials — wood, stone, metal, and glass — with custom furnishings by Nakashima, Linley, Pollaro, and Silver Lining. Highlights include a solid bronze and stone staircase composed of 48,001 parts, and vintage McIntosh audio gear with vinyl records in the salon.
