Feadship celebrated its 75th anniversary at the Monaco Yacht Show by unveiling the concept yacht "C," a stunning 75-meter motoryacht designed by Studio De Voogt. This concept pays tribute to Feadship's history while pushing the boundaries of yachting technology and sustainability. The design draws inspiration from carbon, the elemental basis of diamonds, symbolizing the brand's Diamond Anniversary, and reflecting Feadship's continuous innovation.
Design Highlights:
Diamond-Inspired Faceted Design: The yacht features broad expanses of glass, allowing light to penetrate deep into the multi-level interior, creating fluid living spaces that blur the boundaries between indoor and outdoor environments.
Unique Layout: The decks are staggered by a half-level at the center of circulation, creating a seamless flow between living areas without long corridors. The centerpiece is an open atrium with floating stairs and a wall-less lift, adding a sense of brilliance and openness.
Luxury and Connectivity: The duplex owner’s suite features a private office and sitting room on the main deck, while the lower deck includes a sea lounge that can be used while underway or at anchor. The lounge also has terraces that open up for an extended alfresco experience.
Technological Innovations:
Electric Propulsion: C continues Feadship’s trend of sustainable propulsion, using a fully electric system with contra-rotating propellers, building on the success of previous yachts like the Savannah.
Methanol Fuel Cells: C’s power comes from methanol fuel cells, complemented by lithium-metal batteries. This technology eliminates harmful emissions and increases efficiency, making it a significant step towards decarbonizing yachting.
Wave-Actuated Fins: Innovative hammerhead-style fins generate electrical energy while reducing pitch motion and total resistance in the water, enhancing both comfort and sustainability.
Sustainability:
C uses green methanol, considered one of the best near-term solutions for sustainable energy in yachting due to its high energy density and ease of use. In normal cruising conditions, the fuel cells allow the yacht to reach 14 knots, with a top speed of 17 knots when combined with battery power. This propulsion system reduces both greenhouse gas emissions and the environmental impact of yachting.
Innovation Beyond Design:
Feadship’s Knowledge & Innovation team continues to push the envelope with C, making it one of the most advanced concept yachts both in terms of luxury and environmental responsibility.
