Project 111.11 Takes Shape at Van der Valk: A Bold New Chapter in Custom Superyacht Design

Waalwijk, Netherlands – A new fully custom superyacht build is underway at the acclaimed Van der Valk Shipyard, where visionary owners, acclaimed designers, and an expert team of Dutch craftsmen are bringing Project 111.11 to life. Scheduled for delivery in Q3 2024, this 34-metre, four-deck yacht is a striking blend of technical precision, creative design, and personal passion—crafted on the proven hull platform of the award-winning Lady Lene and reimagined for a new era of on-water lifestyle.

Shared Vision, Seamless Synergy

Project 111.11 is a collaboration rooted in shared experience and fresh thinking. The owners—seasoned yachtspeople with more than 30 years of seafaring insight—teamed up with renowned exterior designer Guido de Groot and interior designer Carla Guilhem to translate their vision into reality. Van der Valk, known for pushing the boundaries in the 25–45m custom yacht segment, provided the perfect platform to unite form, function, and flexibility.

“Using the engineering of a successful build like Lady Lene allows us to maximize efficiency and customization above the waterline,” says Yoeri Bijker, Head of Sales at Van der Valk. “The result is a fully bespoke superstructure tailored precisely to the owners’ lifestyle.”

Compact Footprint, Expansive Living

Though the owners initially envisioned a slightly larger yacht, Van der Valk helped define a “sweet spot” at 34 metres, ensuring all key features would be delivered with no compromise in volume or luxury. The layout includes:

  • Five staterooms, including a full-beam master suite on the main deck

  • A sky lounge, expansive main salon, and country kitchen-style galley

  • Spacious crew quarters and a beach club/sports-garage with fold-down platform

  • Construction to commercial RINA standards, enabling charter potential

Built for extended use, Project 111.11 is powered by twin Volvo Penta 750 hp continuous duty engines, ensuring reliable performance with a top speed of 14.4 knots—a propulsion setup informed by the yard’s prior success with Santa Maria T.

Modern, Minimalist Exterior

The yacht’s striking profile—penned in collaboration with Guido de Groot—follows a disciplined design language. Four functional decks are wrapped in clean, continuous lines, with an arch rising in a single motion from main deck to hardtop and bulwarks lowered for seamless ocean views through full-height windows.

“The brief was clear: crisp, straight lines and strong visual cohesion,” says De Groot. “We’ve achieved that while carving out space for modern luxuries like a jacuzzi sun deck, gym, and hidden jet ski storage.”

A clever windbreak on the sundeck doubles as support for the large hardtop and a flexible partition for weather protection. Below, exterior geometry extends even to the crew area windows, reinforcing the attention to detail across all decks.

Interior Innovation: Futuristic Yet Familiar

Interior designer Carla Guilhem was given the rare gift of full creative license—carte blanche—from the owners. What began as a concept of strong, angular lines evolved into something entirely different: a futuristic, softly immersive space inspired by lunar landscapes and sculptural minimalism.

“We’ve gone for smooth, rounded forms, monochrome tones, and an atmospheric feel that’s both otherworldly and welcoming,” Guilhem explains.

Key elements include:

  • Elliptical ceiling features and oval windows that break from traditional symmetry

  • Neutral-toned finishes with contrasting frames and trims for visual impact

  • Loose furniture to allow fluidity in layout and enhance functionality

  • A unique asymmetrical bridge deck lounge that opens up flow and volume

The main deck also features a private office for extended stays, while the lower deck offers two VIP cabins and two twins, all ensuite and cleverly connected to the crew passage for seamless service.

A Personal Statement in Steel and Style

Project 111.11 is more than a yacht—it’s a curated experience. From the highly customized general arrangement to the nuanced design solutions that blur the line between form and function, it stands as a showcase for owner-driven creativity and shipyard excellence.

“This yacht is a product of trust, openness, and shared passion,” says Bijker. “We’re building something that doesn’t exist anywhere else—something that will inspire people the moment they step aboard.”

As the build progresses toward delivery later this year, Project 111.11 promises to be another award-worthy addition to Van der Valk’s already distinguished fleet.
