Based in Germany, Lürssen is the leading shipyard for large luxury yacht building.
For four generations and since 1875, Lürssen has been cultivating the most refined skills and advanced technologies to create truly outstanding vessels. Their connection to shipbuilding is as deep-rooted and individual as only family bonds can be, the commitment is deep, the approach individual. When the company founder Friedrich Lürssen said, “Leading in quality and performance, that should be my company’s reputation,” he was expressing the values Lürssen continues to uphold to this day.
The shipbuilding family can look back on a number of remarkable achievements. These include the world's first boat propelled by an internal combustion engine (1,5 hp) launched in 1886 as well as the world's largest motoryacht with 180 m and powered by 94.000 hp.
A success story: from the modest producer of small working and racing boats to the leading producer of luxury yachts and high-quality specialized ships. From then to now, around 13,000 ships have left the docks of Lürssen. Each one a true original and a magnificent specimen of its type.
Lürssen yachts are as individual as their owners – from experienced yachtsmen to newcomers, from 60 meters to more than 180 meters in length. The yachts developed by Lürssen hand-in-hand with the customers and the world’s finest yacht designers, span the full spectrum – graceful, bold, poetic, imposing, classic, innovative. Yet as diverse as these individual projects are, they all share one quality: they are shaped by the Lürssen family’s deep knowledge of - and commitment to - custom yacht building.
Today, 29 of the Top 100 yachts in the world have been built by Lürssen (9 of the Top 20). The founder's dream to become one of the leading shipbuilders is still present in the spirit of Lürssen and all the people who work there.
Lürssen is more than a shipbuilding company - Lürssen is a shipbuilding family.
