A
CRN was started by Italian businessman Sanzio Nicolini in 1963, in the Adriatic seaport of Ancona. Instead of building wooden yachts, Nicolini built upscale luxury yachts from aluminium and steel right from the start, and soon developed a reputation as a high-end builder. The shipyard’s Super Conero yacht series is an example of early success. In 1970, Nicolini started to work together with another Italian luxury yacht icon Carlo Riva, which lasted eight years and eight yachts were built by superyacht builder CRN for Riva Yachts that helped to CRN to get the pedigree styling. Throughout the rest of the 20th century, CRN built custom superyachts for experienced owners, including head of Fiat-Gianni Agnelli. The 32.80m superyacht F100, designed by Gerhard Gilgenast and built by luxury yacht builder CRN for Agnelli in 1983 created a contemporary yacht design. Ferretti Group has acquired luxury yacht builder CRN in 1999 and CRN joined well-known yacht brands Ferretti Yachts, Riva, Itama, Pershing and Custom Line.
