The Italian shipyard, established in 1992, initially focused on building small yachts before gradually advancing to innovative yachts and superyachts. Right from the start, the company made water-jet engines its hallmark. AB Yachts' trajectory was significantly shaped by its integration into the Fipa group of companies in 2001, a group founded by businessman and yachting enthusiast Francesco Guidetti. This merger provided AB Yachts with extensive production facilities and experimental opportunities. Prior to acquiring AB Yachts, Fipa Italiana had already taken over the Maiora and Intermare shipyards, and later added the large hull manufacturer CBI Navi to its portfolio. The spacious marina in Viareggio facilitated expanded after-sales services for all Fipa Group members, including repairs, storage, and refurbishments. In 2001, production was further boosted with the addition of over 100,000 sq.m. of space in Massa.
All AB Yachts vessels are crafted in Massa on the Ligurian coast, where the company actively embraces innovation and collaborates with leading experts in production and design. The shipyard introduced three key innovations: jet engines and water jets (even on smaller models), special structural adhesives (which reduce vibration and enhance structural strength), and computer modeling along with finite element design programs. AB Yachts is a pioneer in the use of composite materials, such as advanced composites, resins, carbon fiber, and Kevlar.
The model range includes six yachts with planing and transitional hulls, ranging from 24 to 44 meters in length, with two models (140 and 145) classified as superyachts. The shipyard's yachts are renowned for their sporty design, smooth ride, and distinctive layout centered around the salon on the main deck. A standout feature is the combination of exceptional speed and comfort. Owners have the flexibility to completely customize the layout, choose between a flybridge or hardtop, opt for the high-performance 100 Superfast trim, and avail themselves of comprehensive after-sales services.
