Construction Nears Completion on 44m Project Virtus
The 44-meter motor yacht Virtus has reached the final stages of construction, with all steel and aluminum work now completed. The yacht, developed in collaboration with Ginton Naval Architects, is currently in the outfitting and electrical installation phase. The launch is anticipated for mid-2019.
A recent social media video released by the shipyard showcased the fitting of the hard top, a significant milestone that followed the yacht’s transfer to a different hangar at Mengi Yay’s Tuzla shipyard.
Post-Construction Plans and Sea Trials
After the sea trials, Virtus will remain at Istanbul Technical University’s Tuzla campus for final furnishings and interior touches. Students from the university will have the unique opportunity to tour the yacht, offering them an up-close view of the yacht-building process.
Design and Features
Designed by BTA Design and VYD Studio, who also created the exterior lines, Virtus will feature an elegant and functional interior. The 43.6-meter aluminum yacht will offer ample deck space, including a foredeck seating and sunbathing area, and a superyacht sundeck split between a spa pool and sunlounger area. The cockpit will provide an aft-facing seating wrap, perfect for enjoying unobstructed views of the sea.
Accommodation and Performance
Virtus will accommodate up to ten guests in five luxurious cabins, including a master suite and four additional cabins. The crew quarters will house up to eight staff members. The yacht will be powered by two 1,450hp Caterpillar C32 engines, enabling a top speed of 15 knots. At her cruising speed of 12 knots, Virtus will have an impressive range, thanks to a fuel capacity of 51,000 liters.
As the launch date approaches, Virtus stands as a testament to Mengi Yay’s commitment to combining advanced engineering with luxurious design, marking another milestone in the shipyard’s illustrious history.
