Zuccon International Project
Zuccon International Project, founded in Rome in 1972 by Gianni Zuccon and Paola Galeazzi and now led by their children Bernardo and Martina, is one of Italy's most influential yacht design studios. Renowned for long-term partnerships with Sanlorenzo and the Ferretti Group, they pioneered the asymmetric yacht concept and in 2025 launched HubZeta, a creative platform exploring new frontiers of maritime design.
A Legacy of Italian Design Excellence
Zuccon International Project was founded in Rome in 1972 by architects Gianni Zuccon and Paola Galeazzi, who would go on to write important chapters in the history of Italian luxury yacht design. The studio's first major success came in 1978 at the Genoa International Boat Show with the Technema 65, designed for the Posillipo shipyard—a project that launched their international reputation. Today, the studio is led by the second generation: Bernardo and Martina Zuccon, who have expanded their parents' legacy while maintaining the founding philosophy of putting client success above self-celebration.
Shipyard Partnerships and Iconic Projects
Zuccon International Project has established enduring collaborations with the world's premier Italian shipyards. Since 1990, they have worked extensively with the Ferretti Group, designing models for Ferretti Yachts, Custom Line, CRN, Bertram, Mochi Craft, and Apreamare. Their partnership with Sanlorenzo has been particularly prolific, spanning multiple lines including the steel series. In late 2025, Sanlorenzo delivered the first 58Steel, Perla Lunar, designed by Zuccon with a revolutionary diesel-electric hybrid system that enables zero-emissions cruising and frees over 40sqm of space for guest areas. The studio also designed the award-winning Alloy for Sanlorenzo, which won a World Superyacht Award. Beyond Sanlorenzo, Zuccon has created designs for Perini Navi's Heritage range (55m, 65m, 75m) and numerous projects for CRN, Benetti, and other top-tier yards.
Pioneering Asymmetry and Multidisciplinary Vision
The studio is celebrated for introducing the asymmetric yacht concept to the industry, first presented in 2018 on the SL102 Asimmetrico and later evolved on the SD132 and the SL86A, which represents the culmination of their spatial research. Bernardo Zuccon describes their approach as rooted in the philosophy 'from the spoon to the city'—designing everything from door handles to entire yachts and villas with equal attention. This multidisciplinary vision extends to product design, with custom hardware, furniture, and textiles created for their projects. In 2025, the studio launched HubZeta, a dedicated creative platform exploring new frontiers in maritime design, with projects including an electric tender developed with ModenaTech for Sanlorenzo and a semi-transparent companionway door for Parema, debuting at METS Amsterdam 2025.
Beyond Yachts: Residential Design and Innovation
Zuccon's design language has naturally expanded from sea to shore. In 2025, the studio provided artistic direction and interior design for two luxury villas on Hibiscus Island, Miami, in collaboration with Imago Development. Bernardo Zuccon notes that this expansion reflects their core philosophy: understanding context, culture, and the relationship with nature. The studio also entered the refit sector through HubZeta, applying their expertise to upgrade existing yachts with contemporary, sustainable solutions. With founder Giovanni Zuccon honored as a UCINA Boating Pioneer in 2010 and now serving as Associate Professor at Rome's La Sapienza University, the studio continues to transmit its passion for design to future generations while remaining at the forefront of innovation.
